ESPNEWS HD TV Plan

Great news! According to the Sports Business Journal, ESPNEWS has finalized the graphics for its new High-Definition TV channel, scheduled for launch on March 30. The high-def channel will feature a scrolling scoreboard on the left side of the screen, similar to the graphics display now used by Fox Business Network HD, which displays stock updates on the right hand side of the screen. At the top of the ESPNews HD screen will be tabs of league news and other topics, while the bottom will feature breaking news and advertising. The network is planning to display up to three scores updates at one time, compared to just one now seen on ESPNews. DIRECTV has announced that they will carry ESPNews when it launches.

Satellite HD TV

Amazon.com says the Samsung LCD was its best selling High-Definition TV during the 2007 holiday season. Are you one of the lucky ones who got a hi-def tv for Christmas? I was, and now I need to sign up for HD television. My local cable company doesn’t offer a large number of HD channels, so I’m going to give Directv a try. I keep seeing their commercials for 100 hd channels. I don’t think they cost as much as cable either. I can’t wait! Hopefully it will be hooked up before the NFL playoffs start.

In the News

This morning I hear that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated when I turned on Directv and CNN. I am so glad I can get accurate news from Directv. It is sad whenever a voice for moderation is silenced by violent extremism.

Discovery Channel HD on Direct TV

The Planet Earth series on the Discovery Channel HD is amazing. If you have direct tv, you can see it on channel 278. I first watched some of the episodes in standard definition, but after I got direct tv I was able to see it in high definition. Even if you are not a fan of “nature”, make sure you catch some of the re-runs on Discovery HD. It will blow you away.

NFL Network on Direct TV

I am so happy that I have Direct tv because I will be able to see the Giants/Patriots game on the NFL Network this Saturday night. Most of my friends will be coming over to my place to watch it because they do not have it with their cable service. I can’t believe that a huge number of sports fans will not be able to see this game. It’s really a shame, but I guess both Direct tv and the NFL Network are getting a LOT of publicity out of this.

DIRECTV Saves the Day

I had a ton of Christmas wrapping to do and the kids were driving me crazy. Luckily for my birthday in November, my wife got me a HD TV. The HD TV itself is fine, nice and thin and it hangs on the wall, freeing up floor space - which is why we got it. But we realized after getting it that we needed to get an HD service or it was kind of a waste. So, my early Christmas present to myself was to sign up for DIRECT TV. Lucky for me the installer showed up on 12/22 at 10 am sharp, according to schedule. In about an hour the HD TV was up and running on a TON of HD Channels. DIRECT TV is an easy choice since they have the most HD channels of any of the cable providers. My kids were (and still are) in heaven! And, I got to wrap the presents while they were distracted by all the new TV content in HD brillaince. Thank you DIRECT TV!!!
