Time Warner cable rates rising

Time Warner Cable changed its monthly rates for various tiers and packages effective Feb. 1, increasing the overall bill for some customers in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company said it was impossible to say what the average bill might look like.

The company increased its basic cable rate 10%, increased its standard rate to $51.95, and each of its three digital packages also increased. The company said the overall hike is designed to increase revenue. Customers received a message printed on their bills about the changes.

Customers tired of cable rate increases are switching to DIRECTV.
