Lifetime Networks owned by The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Corporation has launched Lifetime Television HD. Lifetime. The channel joins its sister channel Lifetime Movie Network HD, which was launched last year. The programming line-up will include original drama Army Wives and also the upcoming The Tenth Circle. Lifetime Network survey says that about 90 percent of women are involved in the purchase of HDTVs.
Conkling said: “Our research shows that 85 percent of women 18-54 said they were interested in watching movies in high-definition*, far exceeding any other genre. A recent survey also showed that nearly half of women 18-54 want to add either Lifetime or Lifetime Movie Network to their high-definition package. In launching Lifetime Television HD, together with Lifetime Movie Network HD, we are giving women what they want. With these agreements, we’re delighted that AT&T and Verizon will carry all of our networks.” Apart from AT&T and Verizon’s FiOS, the channel has not revealed if they have carriage agreement with DIRECT TV.

Analyst: Remote DVR Again Demonstrates DIRECTV’s Leadership
That’s the question Pali Research analyst Rich Greenfield pondered on his blog last week during a discussion of the satcaster’s new remote DVR scheduling tool.
“DIRECTV has created an elegant, yet simple application that subscribers nationwide can use to program their DVRs remotely via any broadband connection or any wireless device with web access,” Greenfield wrote. “No specific software is needed, no special wireless device, and your set-top box does not even need a broadband connection. Remote programming decisions are beamed via satellite to your individual DVR.”
In Greenfield’s view, the announcement of the remote scheduler is just another example of DIRECTV’s forward thinking approach to the pay TV space. Although some cable operators — including Comcast with its upcoming Fancast service — offer similar functionality, most are currently based on Sprint’s proprietary Pivot wireless service instead of in-house technology.

Great news for DIRECT TV DVR owners! DIRECT TV will be officially launching the ability to remotely schedule DVR Recordings sometime in February 2008. In order to use the service, you need a free account on Directv.com. From the TV listing page, the user will have the option to “record to receiver” when you expand the title of a show. A pop-up window will allow you to select which DVR (if you have more than one) you wish to use to record the show. A second option will be available for low bandwidth mobile devices (cell phones/pda’s), which allows you to do rudimentary searches for shows/channels and schedule from a listing of events. If you do not have DIRECT TV, call today to order! If you already have DIRECT TV, call today to upgrade to the DIRECT TV DVR or HD-DVR.
